My collection of daily affirmations, humor, interests and all of it centered around me. Who wouldn't love it?

Balance Billing: Medical Shisters
I just read this article in Newsweek that hit really close to home for me when I dislocated my elbow last year. Everyone should know their rights when it comes to insurance and doctors. We pay so much money to insure ourselves and end up getting screwed anyways. Here is the Newsweek Article and Here is the Link to the Texas Department of Insurance Balance Billing Section. As a consumer, you must fight for your rights. I don't want to be preachy but the only person that cares if you get screwed is you.
The Devil's Cigar: The Link Between Japan and Austin
Central Texas is the same latitude as southern Japan. Which may be one reason why this mushroom is only found here in Central Texas and Japan. Just another reason for me to go visit and the name also has the word devil in it. Another favorite of mine. No, I'm not a satanist. I just like evil things! They are sexy. Here's the story on pink tentacle. Link

Public Service Announcement: Screen Resolution Vs. Print Resolution
I just have to get this off my chest. What you see on your computer screen will NOT always print well. Especially if you are printing on a web press. See those pixels? See 'em? That is what you get when you start with shit resolution, you get shitty printing. There is no adding pixels to lo-res. It's just not possible. Thank you. Here is a link if you would like to learn more about resolution.
Director/Animator: Adam Bizanski
I'm a big fan of the shins. Adam Bizanski was the creator of their video for "Pink Bullets"
It's very cool. Here's his portfolio. Link
Days Gone By: Rocketship Slide
I was watching this year's Burning Man Build Video on Boing Boing and one of the structures reminded me of a rocket ship slide on a playground my grandmother used to take me to as a child. I did a google search and found that many people have blogged about these slides before. The top one is in Richardson, Texas - maybe I'll try to go there sometime and have some oldschool fun. I really hate today's playgrounds, no imagination and no stuff to get hurt on. Where's the fun in that? I'm sure it's so people don't sue the pants of small town governments, but isn't there a workaround - like "play at your own risk"? Just Sayin'.

Artist: Banksy
I really like the graffiti artist Banksy. He uses his art to make statements with limited imagery and uses the environment to communicate his ideas. If anything he's the best kind of graphic designer, only with an unusual media and nothing but social commentary to express. Link

Corey Haim's Views on Life when he's high as a kite
I grew up in the eighties, yes I thought Corey Haim was cute. Yes, I occasionally watch the reality show "the two coreys". This clip is pure awesomeness. Found on street boners and tv carnage.

Lunch Time! Japanese Food Recipe Blog
More along the Japanese theme. I found www.justhungry.com I'm totally hungry and the food and recipes on this site look really good! When I was a little girl I used to say that I was hungry whenever we were in the grocery store so I could get a treat. My mom's response to this was: "Hi Hungry, nice to meet you."
Vampire Cafe, Tokyo
Hopefully J and I will get to go to Japan for our honeymoon - whenever that happens. No pressure! Marianne Mancusi, a writer of teen vampire fiction, visited this vampire themed eatery in Tokyo and blogged about it here. It's on my list to go.
John Kricfalusi's Take on Presidential Candidates
I love John K! Ren and Stimpy is one of my favorite cartoons. He's a great animator in the true sense of the art form. He's offering these rubber statuettes for sale of the presidential hopefuls. I think he captured McCain's persona just right. Here is his blog. Click on the picture to go to his store and purchase the figurines.

Do you want a President that doesn't use email?
McCain doesn't use email, he just learned to use the internet last year, wtf? With so many technology issues at the forefront of our American lives, why would anyone elect such a luddite? America is educating itself and it's making it harder then ever before to be a politician. We can call them on their bullshit and cross-reference it in 45 seconds. Here is where I found out this juicy tidbit, and yes, I'm biased against him.
"High technology has not been one of McCain's subjects, either. His curiosity did not extend to the Internet until this year, a source of criticism during this campaign. His staff has recently helped McCain learn how to read news online and political blogs. McCain dismissed the matter in the interview: "I'm on the computer all the time now." He lived without it for many years and still does not send e-mails.
McCain wrote in "Worth the Fighting For": "We can all stand a little self-improvement from time to time, but it's hard to accomplish when you have reached my age." Link
Finally! Exercise in a Pill!
They still haven't mastered a whole meal in a pill like in "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory" but we are closer to not having to exercise anymore. There will be pills that trick the muscles into thinking they have been working out, when all you've been doing is sitting at your desk. Take a read, and maybe you won't have to go the gym tomorrow.
